History of PRESEC
From humble beginnings to academic excellence - the journey of Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School
🏫 The Vision Begins
Rev. Nicholas Timothy Clerk, then Synod Clerk of the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast, advocated for the creation of a secondary school for boys — laying the foundation for what would become PRESEC.
🎓 The Birth of PRESEC
Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School was founded at Odumase-Krobo with just 16 boys and 4 teachers, under the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast. It was created to provide sound academic and moral education.
🏗️ Growth and Expansion
The school expanded with new classrooms, dormitories, and facilities as student numbers grew. PRESEC quickly became one of the most respected mission schools in the colony.
🚚 The Move to Legon
PRESEC relocated from Odumase-Krobo to its new, permanent campus at Legon (Mile 9), Accra, giving it a modern setting and closer links with the University of Ghana.
👩🎓 Admission of Female Students
For the first time, the school opened its Sixth Form to female students — a move that broadened its academic diversity and excellence.
